We reserved a car online for Puerto Rico Avis #1. We picked up the car June 23 at the #1. We returned the car to Avis Desk at Rio Mar Beach Hotel on June 26th. Our rental was $225. The woman at the Avis desk at our hotel said there would be no extra charges to us for leaving the car there rather than returning it to Avis #1. Later, we discovered an additional $330 was tacked on to the original $225. I called the manager at Avis #1, and he quoted me the contract statement that allows for a higher rate. I told him his employee told us there would be no charge. He said he could do this since the contract said so. We believe this is wrong. Charging a higher rate does not mean more than doubling the daily rate. A member of his staff at the Avis desk at our hotel said there would be no charges added on. We request that Avis rectify this. I am contesting this absurd charge. Our original charge of $225.60. An additional $330 charge was tacked on as a higher rate. We do not consider this a higher rate, it is a charge which we are contesting.
